End of Life Care

There may be several levels of services and support needed when someone and their loved ones are facing a life-limiting illness. Those services and supports can be provided by several different people and organizations. A person may have medical support that manages the illness, legal support that manages finances, wills and estates, and friends and family support that provides care and practical support. A Death Doula can provide end-of-life care like:

-
bedside support
-
putting together an after-death 'things to do' package
-
assist with physical care
-
provide a safe and comfortable space for the person to talk about dying
-
vigiling
-
body care after death
-
delve into the person's wishes during the dying process and after their death
-
help loved ones recognize and address their emotions and concerns
-
explore individual and group conflicts and challenges
-
bring focus and clarity to a person's wishes
-
be an advocate for the person and their family
-
help maintain the safety, security, and wellness of caregivers who may be feeling burdened
-
support people through the grieving and bereavement process
-
share education (e.g. advanced care planning, the dying process, funeral options, etc.)
